All About Me... Hi, my name is Emily Armstrong. Welcome to my photography page! This is where I can upload pictures I take from projects in school, and pictures I take at home and in my spare time. I l am really interested in photography and take lots of different style photographs using my phone. My favourite type of photographs to take are sunsets. I love the different colours that you can see in them and the way the sky and clouds sit at the top of the photograph. From this GCSE I hope to research photographers I have never heard of before, discover new inspirations to find and improve my own photography skills which is what I am truly passionate about.
Why Photography? Ever since I was little, I have always wanted to have a camera in my hands. My uncle and dad were both very enthusiastic and creative with their photography, and have taught me a lot. My dad takes many pictures and his focus is mental health and the environment as these are two things that he is passionate about.
I think that photography has a deeper meaning than just taking pictures, it shows the relationships between a person, and creates a story without words. It's a way of being able to hold onto blurry memories or people that are important to you.
My style of photography is very heavily influenced by my dad, as most of the time he is the one who takes photographs with me. I mainly focus on parts on nature that are bright and colourful, like sunsets, clear skies, shadows and landscapes. But I also take inspiration from a lot of photographers like Helene Pambrun, who is a concert and celebrity photographer who has worked for Harry Styles for 3 years, and specialises her photographs in black and white.
Autumn For this project, I chose to take pictures of representations of Autumn on our half-term break. I love the colours that you see from the plants and trees as well as the sky in autumn. I chose to focus on the autumn colours and aimed to include as many as possible. I live in Runcorn and spent most of my holidays here, but I spent some time in Paris so chose to use some of the photographs I took when I was there.
Each Image in Detail
I took this photo in the Toy Story part of Disneyland Paris. I chose to use the photograph because it brings out the life and excitement that Autumn attaches to nature. When I edited this photo, I turned the exposure down to -10, so that the main focus point would be on the colours in the objects, rather than the colours of the people surrounding me. Although the colours of the lights and the ball do not seem very autumnal, the colours of the sky and the trees contrast to capture autumn in a different light.
I took this photo in a famous park in Paris’ city square. This photo represents Autumn by the nature and colours captured in the trees and on the floor. When I edited this photo, I tried to make the leaves become lighter as the trees go down the avenue by focusing dark onto the front trees.
