I have chosen to research this photographer because she uses a white focus to emphasise the rest of the colours in the photograph. The water gives a dramatic and fairy-tale effect. The ranges of different coloured flowers make the photographs have a deeper meaning, and make them look more elegant at the same time.
Mark Mawson
I have chosen to research this photographer because he uses water to represent beauty and charm in a new light. The exposure of light emphasises the subject in the photo, and the aspect of the model being underwater creates a magical feel to the picture. The use of water is obvious: in the first picture you can see the ripples and refection in the water, in the second picture her hair is being affected by the water and creating a nice pattern like it is floating, and in the third picture the water is moving her dress and you can see it in the material of it. The light coming through the water on each photo emphasises the waves and water. More specifically in the third photo, the light is coming down directly on top of her, which highlights her and creates a heavenly feel on to the photograph.
Priti Shikotra
I have chosen this photographer because her pictures are plain and simple, but have an effective moral behind them. The white water as a background brings out the colours in the model’s face and darker colours in the focus. The strong eye contact from the model to the camera dramatizes the photograph, and draws attention to her as the subject. First Shoot - The 'Milk' Bath To create my first shoot, I had to take the photographs outside of school, as the school didn't have the facilities for me to do this shoot inside. I took inspiration from the photographers Priti Shikotra and Nefertari Amun, as their water shoots are what I wanted to open my exam with.
What I Needed:
Whole Milk - Makes the water whiter and doesn't mix with the water.
Flowers - Keep 2-3 centimetres of the stem to ensure the flowers float
White Outfits - Keeps the idea of the 'fairy-tale' and 'magical' back story I wanted to have throughout.
Lighting - Natural lighting creates soft shadows, and allows to experiment with different angles.
Food Colouring/Non-Toxic Paint - To make the milk different colours and create unique photographs.
Petals - Emphasise the colours and bring more attention

Unedited Pictures:
As I did the shoot at home rather than in school, I had so much more fun and freedom with the pictures and was able to take my time - despite the bath becoming colder every so often. The fact that my little cousins were willing to model for me was helpful because they enjoyed as much as I did and had many ideas for poses and the flower placements in the photos. Although I was limited to using my phone, I used the 'Snapchat' app for different filters and a wider opportunity for the photos to be taken.
The Shoot with Orla - As she is the youngest of the two, it was quite difficult at the start to actually get her in the bath, as she was slightly scared but once we got going she loved it. Some poses with Orla were difficult to accomplish but the poses we did get were exactly what I needed. To bring more attention across to her face, I used dark shades of pink make-up on her, and smudged them to create a messier and more dramatic look for her shoot. The make-up also warmed her features and brought out her eyes to the camera much more, which is obvious because of the focus point on her face at all times. As it was quite difficult for her to stay serious at all times, I was also able to capture photos of her laughing and smiling, which present the fun of the shoot.
My Favourite Pictures of Orla:
I have selected these photographs as my favourite because they match exactly what I had on mind before I had started it the shoots. The focus point emphasises the colours of the flowers, her make-up and face. The placement of the flowers allowed me to move to any angle I could, as they moved around in the water by themselves and the petals came off in the process of the shoot. I made sure her hair was slicked back to increase the focus on her face and bring out her natural colours against the white water. It became difficult towards the end of her shoot, as the flowers began to sink and lose colour as the milk was affecting them.
My Favourite Pictures of Caelen:
I have selected these photographs as my favourite from this shoot because we were able to have fun as well as take the ones I needed. As Caelen enjoyed it a lot more than Orla, I took a lot more photographs with him than I did with her. I also used a lot more filters and effects on the first photographs, which made them each look unique and almost from different shoots. As the flowers were falling apart towards the end, it was easier to capture the bath being more full and colourful withiut actually having to try.
